Sorry but I cant resist on this one. I pronounce it the king of modern ice fishing. I have learned so much from his writings and videos it is incredible. Would love to be able to shake his hand someday and thank him for the passion he has for the sport of ice fishing and a teacher.

A friend of mine used to fish with him regularly when he lived in Minnesota. He has learned a lot from him.

I have had the pleasure to fish and share a shanty with a few times. I can tell you this. He is a super kind man and so full of information. Was willing to share and not hold back!
They sure don't make them like that now.

I talk to him on occasion as well as his daughter who helps direct the NAIFC  I believe Dave is going to attend the qualifier on maxi on Feb 16th but I can confirm that.  Come to the weigh in and meet him

I bet he's tickled pink on the hacked up rods China puts the Genz name on. Everyone knows it's not his fault. Definitely one of the best known names in the industry for sure!

I don't  know if they where the first, but the Berkley lightning rod/genz series was a great, cheap rod. I bought quite a few of them cheap, and still use them. Most I've attached St. Croix spring bobbers to.

I own a couple walleye/perch Genz sticks (that I didn't pay for) and they work for eyes and sometimes perch, but if you're detecting a light bite, you better be a line watcher! LOL Nothing like a Sweetheart or St. Criox Avid, but not even close to the same price point. The reels are worse... All plastic. When I went to PTOs, I saw the Bricker, and it's definitely a quality rod, and love that they were glass. Candidly, I would have like to see cork over the current handle (I'm old fashion in that regard) and a different springbobber. I would think Genz would agree that his rods aren't for the avid angler, outside of the pounder style technique, and Bricker may or may not agree that his rods are geared toward the avid angler. Both have their place in the market, but in today's world you should expect to get what you pay for. I would like to think if I put my name on it, it will be outstanding, but nobody has offered 6 figures to change my mind, but nobody can't dispute Genz's knowledge... He's a great teacher of the game!
I wish I was good at ice fishing!
