Thompson Lake in Livingston County
« on: Jan 21, 2014, 09:15 PM »
I've never fished her before but I might have the opportunity to this Saturday. Does anyone have any experience on this lake or should I just go to Chemung? It'll be an all day kind of thing and once I'm there I'll be stuck there for a while.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

i fished lake chemung year ago and it was not that great to tell you the truth. what about woodland lake? just east of chemung. chemung was way over fished every time i went there for pan fish. let me see how i do at kent lake west boat launch i found a nice spot over there i am thinking just got to find what there biting on  i am in 12 fow right behind the island in from of the west boat launch fishing pier.

on my gps it say 20 fow and my fish finder says it is 11.8-12 fow. hit a big gill there last sunday it was about 9 inches long and  then the wind and cold hit  shutting every thing down. after that i got two dink perch about 4 inches long. but was marking fish like crazy on the fish finder big and small blips.. if i figure out the bite i will let you know....i think when it warms up the bite turns on and shut down like when it is cold like right now.  by the way it is -3 about 5 miles from kent lake right now and it making ice ;D.  tell you the truth if you get on the gills on kent there are some pigs in there same with the pike and bass...

i even picked up some wigglers and gulp etc... to try so will see what they like the best the big pigs.   if you have ever thought about fishing turtle head on kent it is a pike flat not many gills so catch them at the west launch and drive over to turtle head and fish them there for pike mainly the perch catch  the pike.

Went to woodland two weeks ago.  Caught two pike on tipups west of the launch and caught dinks all over the place.  Lots of 4 inch perch.

Could the difference in depth  on the GPS be the depth before the winter draw down? Just a thought.
You may call me crazy, but crazy catches fish!

Or maybe the thick weed mat creates a bottom reading.......   that is Kent right?

between the weed mat and the drawl down that the problem i am having with the gills on kent. i can find plenty of pike water shallow about 5-8 foot of water  but the deeper water the gills like is right in front of the west boat launch.  any ways best of luck guy till it warms up or till it turn on...
