grundy co. lake choked out?
« on: Jan 27, 2014, 09:16 PM »
does anyone know if the lake at dike got choked out by the milfoil this summer? i had high hopes for this lake this ice season, did well there this spring and early summer, crappies and wallys. tried it 3 trimes on early ice and did very poorly, and havnt gone back. i didnt want to waste valuable fishing time on a dead lake. anyone fished out there in the last month or more, or heard of anything about the state of the lake?

I fished it a month ago and caught a bunch of dink perch but right before dark two trucks showed up. They walked west south west of the boat ramp about 100 yards like they definitely had a plan. I seen one of the trucks there a couple of times since. I'm gonna try it again soon.
I'm gonna miss her,when I get home.

all 3 times i was out there this year the water, and even the ice before the snow cover was incredibly clear. it was really cool right after thanksgiving, found a few brush/pallet piles i didnt know about. but only managed a bunch of small perch, and some descent largemouth. then the last time one crappie and a small walleye. guess i will have to give it another try or 2 this season if there is a descent bite out there. btw kinda sounds like those guys that looked like they had a plan were heading to the large structure they sunk out there last spring

I've never seen one but would love to have it. I asked a dnr guy that checked our license this fall if there was one in existence yet and he told me no. I will say from my experience this year it has been a little off from years past. They added a ton of new structure last winter and there wasnt any fish on the new structure or the old piles either. I caught all my fish away from structure and they were roaming. Havent been there since christmas and didnt do well so i havent been back since. Not a lot of pressure this year from what i see and i drive by it twice a day. Might have to give it a run this weekend and see whats going on.
