First year on the ice.
« on: Jan 15, 2014, 01:29 AM »
I'm new to ice fishing and I absolutely love it. I've been to just a few places in the metro area, Walnut Creek, Werhspann, Cunningham and Lawrence Youngman. What are the other good places to go around here?

You cant go wrong fishing Wildwood this year...Lots of fish to be caught.
Wherspann is probably my favorite lake to fish in the metro area, have always done well on crappie there when we fish it.
Summitt is a little further trip for you but if you can figure out the fish there are some really nice ones in there.

Welcome to the world of ice fishing!

Thanks for the info guys! Also with this being my first year fishing, I get a little nervous on the ice. I drove around manawa today and there is a few areas with open water. There were a few people out in the normal fishing spots though. Is the metro area ice safe? I'm planning to go to czechland or summit tomorrow.

That's what I thought but the wind won today. Did catch some fish but all my anchors got bent and my quarter inch rope broke went down hill from there.
