Just sayin hi to the Idaho Folk

Well, I guess I am getting ready to take up another kind of fishing. We live in Boise, but I am always looking for more ways to fish. I do a lot of trout fishing in the spring and early summer, followed by catfish fishing in the summer and fall. I am looking at getting into ice fishing for the winters. I don't know how much I will do considering the 2 hour drive to cascade/horsethief. But catching some decent sized trout and some perch is very enticing. We were going to go up to horsethief on Saturday for the kids ice fishing day, but my son has basketball practice so that is out.

Anyway, just thought I would say hi.

Ice fishing is addicting. I have been doing it for over 50 years.  Cascade is a great lake to fish. Takes some knowledge. Hopefully you find some folks that will help you learn the lakes quicker. Good luck!! Lots of great advice on Iceshanty.com.

Hi and welcome! Lot's of helpful people on this site and especially the Idaho section. I'm pretty new to the forum as well but have been ice fishing for a few years....and yes, it is definitely addicting!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. The hardest thing right now is finding a manual auger. Everyone is sold out and I am not serious enough yet to buy a gas auger. The second thing is scheduling. Between basketball practice for my boy and upcoming travel for work, it looks like it may be a couple weeks before I can get out. If anyone wants a newbie tag along, let me know.
