« on: Dec 02, 2007, 02:19 PM »
What is the wierdest bait that anyone has used, dead mice, cheese to bacon???

Just wondering, heard the fatty part of bacon (the raw white part) was good for perch??

Just wondering!

Gummy bears for perch, a relative of mine caught a 15 lb pike on a hot dog last winter probly a fluke.  The gummy bears seem to work.
Nothing beats live bait.

well, it isn't that weird but last year I used shrimp that they sell at the store in those shrimp rings for $2.50 each.... there was enough shrimp in one ring to last almost the full season. Perch loved it and snapped it up 3 to 1 compared to minnows. I'd watch on the cam and they would swim by the minnow baited hook and go directly at the shrimp. On the slow days, they would coming an pick at the shrimp way more than any other bait.

First fish derby I used wax worms diped in preperation H . Won 2nd which was 750 dollars. Never really used that bait much after that . May have been a fluke but if you try make sure you get the stuff with shark oil in it. If anything good for a laugh .

Preparation H now thats a new one, lol.

I have had not bad luck for pike with raw bacon, garlic sausage and hotdogs.
I have had a few ice fishing days where the pike would ignore the regular baits like minnows, smelt and herring and go for these unusual baits, but, I found they have to be fresh not freezerburnt, picky, picky. ::)
