Crawford Crappie Bowl
« on: Dec 30, 2013, 07:52 PM »
We missed some football today but made some memories at Crawford res panfish stadium. We rocked it while catching over 40 craps each. Most were 6"-8" but we made enough slabs bite to take home 10 each n bonus catfish. A few 10" bass were released also. Catching from 10'-30' and kept the Nils n Marcums busy hole hopping using glow tungsten jigs n maggots. No love from the pike on the tip ups though. Had the whole place to ourselves. Guess the bite was slow the last 2 days at least for a buddy n his grandsons.

I still haven't fished Crawford this year. Was going to one day but never did. I only live 15 minutes away.
Glad to see the Crappie are hitting. Did you catch any perch or Pike and if so what sizes did you find in the perch?

No love from the pike or perch but really didn't fish the bottom. No flags all day on the tip ups but they weren't in our good pike spots either

Sounds like a delicious day of fishing. I take it you took the grandkids?

What's up with the pike bite this year. Fitting I guess since it's been such a whacky year?

Fun day Brian but no Grandkids. Too early of a start. You know about those lol. The CPW put in some good bass into Crawford last year and I heard they netted a bunch of pike to let the bass multiply. Good mgmt in my book. I miss those nice bass there and we have very few bass lakes over here but can go to the Gaps for pike

Sounds like a great day out there!  I've never fished Crawford, but seems like a great place to try out West.
Did they stock SMB or LMB?
Flags up, gentlemen!!!

Largemouth. There used to be a good population of LMB there but lack of stocking and spawning habitat diminished them. They stocked fair numbers of 6" bass the last several years that never survived the next year.
