Well just got back and the fishing was great! Too bad the catching wasn't better. Two small perch and two small bass. My buddy caught 3 small perch, two small gills and one 9" gill. Its funny how many things you forget on the first outing even though you've been planning for so long. The ice was 6 1/2" and black as the ace of spades. Once the snow melted off inside the shack it was a little unnerving since the ice was so pure. It was like looking through a piece of glass. You could actually see the particulates suspended in the water below it. Not too many people venturing out on the ice other than by foot yet. We took my wheeler along the shore line as we had a mile or so to go from the boat landing. I've got a yukon and boy with a little gear in there and an 1 1/2 of snow that thing is a bugger to pull. luckly we were able to use the wheeler and a trailer to get around the lake. We only had to drag the shacks about 150 yards from shore. We must have drilled 50 holes looking for fish. We saw plenty on the flashers but they just wouldn't hit. The fish we did catch never really bit hard they just sucked in the bait and you had to move the line a little in order to be able to tell there was a fish on.
