Fishable ice - Thanksgiving weekend?
« on: Nov 26, 2013, 11:06 AM »
Hi fellas,

I scratched the itch to ice fish last weekend, making a trip over to Henry's Lake. Well, that only made the desire to get out again even worse!

With a long weekend coming up, does anyone know of any fishable ice any closer to Boise than having to go all the way over to Henry's again? I don't care what kind of fish, just want to get back out on the ice. Also, if anyone is wanting to head out, I'm more than willing to drive. I'd be willing to drive back over to Henry's Lake if I had a person to split fuel with...
 :)

Andy

I've been watching the temps from Cascade to McCall and the daytime highs have not been good for building ice. Thought somebody might know of something higher elevation. I havent lived in Idaho very long and am unfamiliar with most lakes.

Thanks

Maybe Horsetheif but I doubt it, that's east of Cascade. I checked Little Payette tonight and there was 30' of water then ice in the middle. All other mt lakes up here are snowed in, hard telling what's going on. The little pond at Meadowcreek was on my list for Friday, hopefully I'll get there tomorrow and check it out. I have 4" on my little pond, sure felt good to get on ice again.

You might get a hold of hooknhunter . He is from that side of the state . He posted ice fishing while elk hunting . He was the first to be on the ice this season .

i know the local trout pond has about an inch of ice.
since it usually doesn't freeze up good until late december, i think we're gonna have safe ice in a couple weeks. especially since i was there last saturday and it was completely open.

i had a hammer in my car, so i broke a hole and fished through it next to one of the docks, 7 fish in a couple hours, and saw plenty more.
