Bait
« on: Oct 11, 2013, 06:16 PM »
Not having a set up for keeping minnows alive for any duration,I thought I read something about salting and freezing them.I also thought I read where just using a minnows head for tipping jigs worked well.My question is,is there any truth to either of these ways and if so would salting just the heads be worth it or should salting the whole body be the way to go?

I got this method from a bait dealer:  Pickle the minnows in auto windshield washer antifreeze. About 15 minutes is enough.  When you freeze them they won't turn to mush on thawing.   They will be a little stiff and rubbery but the fish don't seem to care.  I have done this with good success.  It isn't live bait but it is meat and it doesn't fall off the hook.
