Check Out this Northern ~ The Beaver Dam Tip Up is Slightly over 23" Lg. ~ Master Angler Patch Awarded ~ Did Not Measure or Weight.  But by Scaling the Photo, The Beast Was Approx. 43.5" Long.  She squeezed through an 8" Auger Hole.  When I examined the Crime Seen afterwards, There was a pile of Fish Excrement Left on the Ice from Compressing Her Through the Hole, she was not harmed.  Possibly 25#'s, she was then released.  No Camera, No Scale, Fishing Alone, Dumb A**.  Thankfully, there was a man on shore that took this photo with his camera.  Also, would anyone have information on this antique Metal Tripod tip up?

Very nice Northern Pike. I may be wrong but the tip up was probably used for fishing on frozen salt/ocean water. I have a book on ice fishing it has a section on ocean fishing with a photo of a similar looking reel. The tip up is definitely for catching big fish in deep water looking at the reel.

Nice pike! If that tipup is 23" long I'd guess it's in the 36-39" range, maybe 15lbs

Tip-up is 2.75in.  Fish is 5in.  5/2.75 is 1.8182.  1.8182x23in=41.8 inches long.  I'd guess about 18 pounds.....

Caught this fish a few days later.  Tried everything to revive the fish, but no go.  This is whats left of her, mounted myself.  Removed head, removed meat, encased in salt, let sit 2 months in dark room, cleaned / rinsed, dried and clear coated polyurethane.  It needs glass eyes, or NOT!  Fish measured 37.5" Lg and weighed 17.6 Lbs.  We also do a little bass fishing.  Hope everyone has a safe and productive ice season.  Live It, Fishing!
