Be interference but had noone even close to me. A good 100 yards from anyone else fishing. Could not even pick up my jig and had
Constant flashing bars on the botttom 20 ft and then at 90 ft aswell. Any ideas or same issues? Was fishing in 100 fow earlier and had no Issues. However, my dynamic depth was

Much the same in 100' for me. ???  Dynamic Depth needs an update IMO. Guess who has never had any issues though? One guess is all you get. Make it count. ;D

So I was one of the "lucky" experiments for when the Lx7 came out. I had it returned within a week due to the issues it was having initially. After having several delayed release dates, I wasn't about to wait for them to due the same with updates. Couple other issues I had was I disliked was the case and the carrying handles in it. Spoke to Chris before its release and he said that so much time went into this case, blah, blah, blah and I just didn't see it. Needless to say the software has improved and the unit is reviewing great and since the other things were small I figured I'd do the plung again.

Decided to sell off the camera and the Lx5 and go with this. Though my experience with Reeds was poor (surprise) hard to pass on the deals they currently have going on for them.

First things first, got it and updated it right away. Easy as pie.

Then looking over the unit I noticed that they did away with the foam pad in the ducer cup and now have a ribbed rubber insert.

Then that they have updated one of the carrying straps. Not sure if this is only for the lx9 since it would be needed when the camera pouch is on, but I have to say I liked it alot.

However this leads me to the issue. The unit still wanted to lean forward and after some testing over carpet and limited height, I was able to get the unit to fall out with little effort. I didn't shake it up and down and stuck with movements one could expect while hole hopping. So that's not cool since this this was $$$ :S. So it was time to figure out a solution and it came pretty quick. I went to WalMart and purchased velcro straps $0.84. They're located with the rest of the sewing supplies and were the perfect thickness of about an 1" wide. I then brough it to a local tailor and less than $10 later, I got it back, everything double stitched, and he also folded over the ends and sewed them as well so they don't start to tear.

Here's the end result.

Taking the unit out without removing the screen may be hard, but I'll take it in return for no more fears of it falling out now. Something that this already redesigned, "well- thought out" case should probably have int he first place.

After exactly 30 days use I just sent my LX-9 back to Cabela's

Carry Handle + weight distribution sucks --> unit tilts,  so much so the right strap of main case ripped loose and the unit hit the hard deck. Chris said bag made in China -no really? Who would've guessed?. Got same spiel about how much design time went into it - I'm not buying the story, just get back to the drawing board

Their stubby little ducer arm is way too short to be of any functional use - unit ends up so close to hole it gets soaked every time. Marcum is reportedly  tired of replacing them + replacing with alum. would jack the price higher still. And? What's fifty dollars, to have it right, after u spent $1300 + change.

This my 2nd Marcum product and the same user experience - unfulfilled.

I'll watch for tearing. Personally I was not happy with how clumsy the 825sd was to use, so this seems like it may be a bit better. I'm not sure what stubby arm you're referring to as mine seems to be the same as the lx5 which was never an issue.

Next thing I have in mind is trying to find a solution to glare issues that others have stated. Some sort of a tint would probably do the trick, but gotta find the right one.

They sell a sunshield

http://marcumtech.com/camera-parts/marcum-8-sun-shield.html

I've seen it before, but just looks putsy and I don't want to have to adjust it everytime I switch holes and it moves.

Probably. If I would have kept mine, I would have probably looked into getting one.

I don't think I would send mine back based on these two issues.  Pretty minor issues if you ask me............

No issues with the arms on either my 5 or 7 but happen to have a buddy that made me custom arms so added the bling....As for the case no issues with my first year 7 hole hopping and never worried it will fall out....

I think it's due to how the carry strap is made on the 9 that this is a new issue. The strap is set back a little more and is probably why 7s may not have this issue. However, I wasn't sure if the new 7s are coming with this new different strap or if it is specific for the 9.

I've seen your ducer arm and its pretty sweet. Pretty sure I saw it on the 13 fishing fb page. If I ever break mine I'll be sending him an email.

The only issue I have so far is like you said "is the case". Yes it is very cheaply made and they could have added a little more velcro to the front flap so it attaches better to the sides. I will be adding some velcro to my unit as well so it doesn't fall forward. The case is reflects the "Made in China" quality. Might try to modify my Ice Armour carrying case to suit my needs.

The very first thing that I did last year when I got my LX-7 was make a new transducer arm out of some aluminum bar stock that I had laying around and I lengthened the arms so they were useable. The case on the LX-7 absolutely SUCKS, mine fell out of the case last year while hole hoping and it killed it. Luckily Marcums customer service was excellent and they sent me a new head and trusted me to put the dead one back in the box and ship it back to them with the pre-paid UPS label they had in the box with the new head. Before the start of this season I took some small screws and screwed the 4 corners of the soft pack to the plastic carrying case so there was no way it was falling out again. I also put screen protector material on the screen that was anti glare and that seemed to help with the glare. A couple weeks ago I noticed the bottom of my soft case was falling apart so I bought a Vexilar Ultra Pack and modified it so I could mount my LX-7 on it, so far that has been working out well.

Given those issues and the grainy looking stuff under the screen (Marcum is fixing this also) I would not give this unit up, I am able to dial the unit in so well on the different types of fishing that I do, I can deal with a few new product issues.

So I got it out this weekend for a good run through. Really like the unit and the versitility of it. Like some others said, at first I felt a bit discouraged, but after dialing up the settings some I was happy. I do still feel they need to have more sensitivty for those using smaller jigs. When I was using a #14 jig in 30 feet of water it would cut in and out at some points. That was a bit frustrating.

Camera overlayed with the flasher was cool and though I won't use it often since I usually hole hop, it will be nice to have when it's needed.

So I was a little bummed today. Called Marcum to just see if there was anything else I could do get my jig to show up since I never had this issue with my lx5. Spoke to him and felt that I did everything I could. Could be a small issue with the programming, weak transducer or something else. He said to send it in, but after we talked decided to wait until end of the season to send it off.

Kind of a bummer, but the 6 color mode seemed to help with this, but Mike did concede that there shouldn't be any reason for the signal to be breaking up like that. Wish it was just something I could fix with a download, but doesn't sound like that is the case.

I had the same issue with my LX7...would not mark jigs in 25 feet of water...interference in the left side of flasher screen and possible 2 dead pixels in the screen. This unit was only 30 days old...I sent my unit back to Marcum. I am sticking by the product...I have had good luck with my LX5.

Yea, I'm going to stick with them this time. The product is still usable and as long as their willing to stand by it, I'll deal with it. Not happy about it, but not pissed enough to return it. Still have my lx5 if anything goes to crazy.
