Muck Artctic Sports

Got myself a pair of Arctic Sports for x-mas. Tried them out about a week ago. 25 degree day, light snow no snow cover on ice. Pros: they are as comfortable a boot as you're gonna get, easy on easy off no hands- a big plus, totally waterproof and very warm...read on though. Cons - Don't fit well with a heavy sock or a wool innersole even if you take out the factory one- they're tighter than hell which doesn't help keeping your feet warm. They say that they'll stretch will see. After about 3 hours of not running around chasing flags or setting up my feet started to get cold. Not freezing but cold a short walk warmed them right up. Not something you'd expect from a boot rated to 40 below. I opted for the Sports vs. the Pros thinking they'd be too warm moving around. Overall I like them but given the price I paid I might have done better with something else. Who knows for sure? Not totally disappointed but expected a little more from them. Just my 2 cents and maybe this will help someone.

Thanks. Ive been thinking about getting a set to try out. What size boot, and how big are the calves? My legs are pretty thick.

I wear a 9 1/2 wide ordered a 10. Plenty of room with a lightweight sock but tight with anything heavier. The calf shouldn't be a problem. The tops aren't tight even with a pair of sweatpants tucked inside, plus they stretch.

Muck arctic Sports sure have a following. It seems everyone has a different opinion as to what warm is.

I've got a pair, but when I bought mine I took a heavy pair of socks with me to try them on so I would be sure to get the proper size, and I love them. When it gets really cold I put a pair of the adhesive backed foot warmers on my socks before putting my boots on. I also never put my boots on until I'm leaving the truck to fish, I have an old stretched out pair of boat shoes that I wear until ready to leave the truck.

I do the same with any boot I have. I wear slippers on the drive over, then change when I get dressed to go out.

I love mine, -40? I don't think so, most importantly is this boot needs to live on a boot dryer when its not on your foot! I wear mine the whole whitetail season, and the intire icefishing season, occasionally I get slightly cold feet but not too bad, you need to have enough room to fit two pairs of sock on and not be tight!
