High Country Birthday Present
« on: Feb 21, 2013, 12:36 PM »
Went out for an early morning catch and here's what The Magnificent Mile gave back!

Well before I moved here in '04 I knew it was my home...  Well, here's three reminders of part of why I like it here

Aarrgghh, it is an hour and a half drive for me, and I always work nights.  It is so hard to get there at sunrise from Salida.  Last week the Mile was stingy, with no wide-bodies coming thrust the ice, only teenagers.  Like Slayerfish, gotta pick the days carefully, otherwise it is Antero.  Half an hour closer, but smaller fish in general.  Do all of you Mile regulars get there at sunrise?
Hey Coboy, I was certain you were in my restaurant last week, we pulled up one of your pics and compared it to this customer, made him come over and look, but alas, it wasn't you.  If you make it into Salida, I 'll buy you an adult beverage at The Laughing Ladies Restaurant, swap tall tales!

Just before sunrise would be ideal (IMHO) so you could be set up and ready for the bite to turn on

Last four weeks(remember, this is all subject to location, environment, lure, bait, presentation, & fish moods and more):
odarkthirty -->7:30  ideal   I see many guys leave or pick up & move after 7.30
9:00 --> the bite can slow quite a bit, but it depends
11-2 --> tends to be slow overall, but I've watched it kick in @ 11ish for a short time
2-dark --> bite can pick up depending on conditions

Malty Falcon it's been awhile since I've been to Salida or the Laughing Ladies. I try to be on the ice no later than 6:15 am.
