Oddfish...You're right, the 22 is prettier...Kinda curious by how there was such a distinct coloration difference between the two...All the lakers I've caught up to this point in this lake which has very clear water have been more like the 22" fish, very bright and vibrant coloration...... diet maybe?...You are what you eat, so they say....There is a smelt population but also a strong population of red fin shiners, but maybe the darker one was more of a bottom feeder...if you notice, the anal fin is split and worn looking which may be from constant sweeping of the floor of the lake...similar to the way some of the larger stockies look from the hatchery....Just a thought..TR

The pic of the darker had the tail cut off (sorry about that) but it was forked as a togue would be...splake have a tail that is more squared off....NH discontinued splake (laker/brook trout hybrid) stocking in the late 70's where I believe they were stocked in Waukewan.. the pic didn't do this fish justice as it was getting dark out but i can say the fish was brighter than  it showed but definetly not as bright as the other....  TR

Congrats TR
Derby or not, that big togue is a beauty, & the smaller one, even prettier.
You may have been alluding to this, but do you suppose those fins are worn from covering eggs?
