Question About Elmore
« on: Feb 14, 2013, 03:14 PM »
I pulled one good 10-11" perch out of Elmore yesterday. I'm just wondering if the massive amounts of dink perch are pretty typical there. I must have caught over a hundred between Sunday and yesterday, with just that one keeper. I'm by no means an experienced ice fisherman, but I do ok on the perch and panfish. Is Elmore known for nonstop, teeny perch action? I figured if there were perch that small everywhere (all my holes were hitting them nonstop) there'd be some bigger guys too, but I wasn't finding them.

My experience on Elmore is TONS of dink perch.
Great for Northern bait and great for kids but not fun if you're targeting larger ones.

I've fished Elmore 4 times this year and haven't had a perch over 6".
“Fish," he said softly, aloud, "I'll stay with you until I am dead.” -EH-

Guess i should be happy with my one keeper then. I did also manage to pull a big crayfish up through the hole. Does that count?

The perch seem to be really nice or dinks. Try fatheads to keep the little guys away.

Heavy Medium shiners are a good perch and pike bait to use there on tipups, ive seen both the smallest and biggest perch in my life come out of there

I'll probably head back there this weekend with some fatheads, I've just been using spikes. Thanks for the tips guys.
