Plastic for beginner ?
« on: Feb 08, 2013, 02:53 PM »
First of all, just to explain. I'm not a beginner ice fisherman. But I've never ice fished with plastic baits. I want to try them for bluegills and perch on inland lakes. I'll usually be fishing in water 5 to 15 feet deep. On these same lakes I've done well in the past with teardrops, hali, or small jigs using waxies or spikes. Can someone tell me just a couple good baits to start with. Help is very much appreciated.
   Thanks

Custom jigs and spins ratso. I like the #10 and #8 size. Also having good luck this year with the lil hustler 1" micro tubes.

With plastics remember to keep it moving and then a quick pause, then start moving again. 99% of your fish will cream it on the pause.

what you're looking for in plastics is action, namely the way they move underwater when wiggled and jigged.
the plastics that work the best will be the ones that look like some living thing wiggling around in the water.

Check out Maki Plastics (http://maki-plastic.com/). I would highly recommend the Jamei and Maki. All of Scott's baits have a time and place though.
I'll keep my guns, freedom, and money. You can keep "The Change"
