Where can I find some fishable ice?? After that warm up and rain I am wondering if there is any fishable ice anywhere.. I have got to scratch this itch.

The ice is good in north central Wisconsin. I fished on a solid 8 inches this evening. I caught two slot walleyes that had to go back and that's it....  >:(

OG,  Hey - what is the best place for public access to the marsh??  I have fished along the bridges near the Nauti Gal and the bridge on 113, but do you have to access from the dog park or is there a place further north and east??  I only ask because those places have current and I don't want to walk out and take a swim.  I actually live right on the north side of Mendota but have only been ice fishing for a couple years.

Went out yesterday in Sauk Co.  2"-4" on small lake.  No auger needed.  Just spud a hole and fish. lol.  Be safe out there yet though.

I went out today in columbia county.  There was about 2 1/2 inches of ice. I caught about 30 gills only keeping 10 nice ones and 1 flag which I got a 16 1/2 bass (released). I was like a kid in a candy store when I walked on the ice.

4" on Kilby Lake in Montello and there's fishable ice on Montello Lake but I'm not sure how much, just saw a bunch of people out there today.  It's the smaller lakes but be safe if you head out there.

Scattered Rice (Mill Pond) had over 8"  a little jeep and Toyota pickup drove out on the ice!   Safe for ATV's.   We hammered the Northern pike, caught couple dozen gills only kept about 6 and even they where small.  This was as of Monday 26th

I was on Cherokee in Madison this morning, a good solid 3", but lots of small fish. Old Goat, ever any keepers out of there? I did well there in 2007, nothing since. I enjoyed the morning and listening to the old timers BS out there, quite a pack huddled together off to the left, right where I used to get the big ones! Quite a crowd out on Monona Bay, might try that in the morning, should be ok with the colder weather, they have been fishing it since last Friday. Not too many other options here in Madison. Think cold!

OG, I was on the ice from 7:00 to 9:00, not much going for me, that is a great place to fish though, very quiet and relaxing, geese flying overhead, it was great! I'm a newbie to this site (see Cherokee post on Lake-Link). Ha, now I have the shanty, Vexilar and all the high tech equiptment, but those oldtimers still out fish me! Everything I caught out there today was small, but it was fun! It sure beats the Monona Bay Zoo!

I was amazed by the lack of ice on the bay and triangles when we drove by Monsay. I've never fished the triangles and from the stories it doesnt seem like I want to haha. I stay pretty nervous on four inches, I'd be pretty happy if it would stay cold and get a bit thicker.

Far up North, Lincoln county has fishable ice.  Have spent the last 2 days out on Lake Mohawksin.  Pulled  2 11+" Crappies out today along with a bunch of panfish.

I have tried monona bay twice.  Felt ok on wednesday with 3" of ice but it had been below freezing for almost a full day before I was out there.  I would still bring a spud and not try to explore too far from where people have drilled holes.  Fish are there.  Hard to find one with much size to it though.  yesterday morning there were at least 30 people out.  I will be happy when I can fish outside of a crowd.   I have not explored any other ice around the area.  Be very careful if we get some snow on top of the ice tonight!

Ha, I drove by Monona Bay this morning at first light, a zoo out there! Not for me, the warm weather and sun today = unsafe conditions. So many people drilling holes on 2" ice you would think that whole bay would collapse! I went to Cherokee, good ice, relaxing, geeese honking. Just me and one oldtimer out there today, I fished off to the left, skunked, didn't even catch a little one, but that's ok, was good to get out! Very cool to see all the geese in the open water at the inlet to the marsh!

My guess is you will need to go at least as far north as hyw 8 and look at small lakes or sheltered bays.

I'm trying it on Sunday.  Thinking maybe some of the bays on Lake Nokomis should be ok.  Rods are rigged, lures tied on.  Spud bar is ready.  Me and my buddy are going.  I will be walking first though as I am the heaviest.
