VFW Derby on Chauncey & A-1 Postponed to March 2nd
« on: Feb 01, 2013, 11:36 AM »
I just received the call from the organizers of the VFW derby on Chauncey and A-1 in Westborough.
As of today you need a plank to get onto both ponds and there is minimal ice covered with a few inches of water, then another thin layer of ice. Chauncey is approx 1/3 open.
They feel the conditions would be ok (notice the lower case "ok") for Sunday given the forecast, but they are wary of promoting a derby.

The planned meat raffle will still be happening today if anyone is interested.

Chauncy is almost 3/4 open water. A-1 has 6 or so feet of water at the boat launch but fishable ice out farther. I just got home from checking each. Needless to say I would use caution when going on it, check the ice as you go... keep the dogs at home etc.

Tight lines!

Touch more than 6' more like 10' use EXTREME caution if venturing out. Not yo mention the entire shore along the dam was 6' -7' of crap.
