welded on ripper blade. (how to sharpen)
« on: Jan 28, 2013, 11:13 AM »
I have a old drill with welded on ripper blade and was looking for direction as to haow to sharpen it. I put it in a vise standing up and down a took a file and pulled downward on the teeth. It cut ice but was wondering of any better way to get a real good edge??  How do you sharpen them?

I use several different grades of sandpaper glued to pieces of glass.
I use the same system for sharpening my wood chisels.

Google: scary sharp sharpening system

Granted it would be much easier taking off the blade but you should be able to do it with a little work.
You could always grind off the welds and bolt a new blade on. ;)
