transporting tipups
« on: Jan 19, 2013, 12:03 PM »
i want a better way of transporting my tipups instead of just throwing them in a bucket in my sled. i have both cross style and polar. i would like to store my polars horizontal.

show us what you have designed or bought. thanks!!

Uncle josh sells a bag for the beaver dam tipups, i just bought 5 beaver dams on clearance so i will need to come up with or buy something for them. I will need to come up with something, that is, if we get any ice this season...

I throw mine in an old backpack and put it in my sled. I keep hooks, sinkers etc. in it. Easy to carry them when setting up and cleaning up

Buy a big back basket. You can put it on your back or put it in a sled. Lots of room...

I just came across a flambeau model fl320, rail tip up storage. Has individual storage for six (i believe) rail tip ups up to a certain length/width. Thats what i'm going to end up purchasing to keep my new beaver dams in. For round insulated tip ups, they also make a storage unit that only costs $17-18, and the top zips closed on it. Looks like a good storage option for round tip ups if a bucket isn't cutting it for you.

Pack basket like the gentlemen said is the way to go you can use them for trapping as well.

After throwing them in a bucket for thirty years, and shten spending 1/2 hour untangling them, I finally bought a cloth carrying case.  Now I have nomore tangling problems.

Go buy some schedule 40 pvc(measure your tipup width including reel for pvc width). Cut it into 16 inch sections. Use 1x3 to frame a rectangle. Put the the pvc in the frame. Attach the frame to your sled. I have 2 rows of five. Works great holds them perfect no tangles mess.
