Marmish vertical jigging system

Wondering if anyone here is using or has used the marmish jigging "rods" or a similar imitation? If so, what are the pros/cons in your opinion?

I love my Marmish, I always catch fish on it. Yesterday I got a nice brown trout on it. Was one hell of a fight since I only had 1# test line on it. Got him in though, 21".

pros: they catch fish when nothing else will, easy to use, small and compact.

cons: hard to use when the winds blows too hard, not the best in deep water. I've used them in deep water just takes too long to get back down.

Here's the brown I got, caught Wed, 2-13. Next to a 2 liter and the Marmish.

Nice fish!!! So more drag is applied just by squeezing the reel housing, I assume, correct?

Yes, that's how it works. To be honest though I never touched the drag with this fish. I only had 1# test line so I babied it. I always had my fingers on that line. Don't think I've ever had a fish fight that hard before. I'm used to catching perch and walleye. This fish is so strong...it was 10 minutes before I even knew what I had.

I have used the drag on a northern that I caught on it and it worked fine.

I just love the action on the bait and sensitivity of the bobber you get with these rods.

You could probably rigs up a rod and reel with a spring bobber and get similar results but the Marmish is just so small and works so damn well. It fits in my coat pocket with a puck of maggots. I'd go out fishing with just that and an auger and feel confident I would catch fish.

Just grabbed a Marmish rod while on a trip fishing up in Wisconsin, amazing unit.  I have been a big fan of the 18" HT Blues rod with a Schooley, but this is a real nice unit.
The Greenhornet's caught more fish then you've lied about, Gustafson!

Haven't scored a marmish yet but I'm using the same 18" ht ice blues and I love em! Can't beat it for spending $10 at your local bait shop.
