One piece of advice, just because guys are out there, don't assume that its safe to do the same. Experience in this sport counts for much.

Welcome to the site and the sport. What species of fish do you like to target? Spots that are good during open water have the same fish under the ice, you just have to find them and figure out how to catch them in cold water. Search this site, there is a wealth of information.

Pike in jersey is ehh, I only see mostly pickerel around, I love hopatcong lake, for perch, crapy, hybrid striped, musky, trout, catfish and everything, and it usually locks up, what I love about this lake is that well it's huge and people don't set up fit next to you

Pike lakes spruce run and budd lake. I tend to have a lot more hook ups in the pasaic river in open water.

Passaic River is without a doubt the best Pike fishery in NJ. You can have multiple fish days easily and there is tons of access. ;D

Cranberry lake is a hard lake to get pike in general. Locals around the lake that have been fishing it have gotten them but with strange tactics that i have never tried before ice fishing. But heard there is plenty of them
