My 7 yr old and I hit Bismark from 230-430.  35 perch and a nice 'bow.  Over half of perch were tiny but it was fun.  8-10" of ice to boot.  We both had vexilars and used jigs with red maggots.

Fished Deerfield again in Gold Run. Are there any perch in this lake anymore?? I've fished it 3 times all winter and still haven't hooked up with one. Today there was about 8" of ice and many people had 4 wheelers on it. I stayed mobile and fished all around the bay and ended up catching 10 rock bass, a small rainbow and 1 10" Brook Trout.  VERY SLOW

Just another note, the fish are EXTREMELY finicky.  I could see lots of trout suspended on the vexilar but they just would not hit. When ever I did feel a bite it was very light.

Good Luck!

fished deer today.  Not sure how many fish we caught, but we brought home 32.  I would say we easily caught close to 100 total fish.  Caught probably 20 or so trout.  Fished in 70-80 ft of water.  Little perch, 7-8 inches, probably won't head back that way again this year.

Heading to stockade within the next couple hours any tips of where to go to get into perch, wife hasn't caught a fish through the ice yet and I need to get her hooked to have a new fishing partner, any suggestions would be great! Thanks

Not sure how the ice is on all the entire lake but a good start would be by the island. Every time we fished it the fish have been fairly finicky. A spring bobber does help quite a bit.

If you have a wheeler, go to deerfield, and go to the dam.  you'll see the holes

How much snow is in the Deerfield area, easy access still to the lake?

My youngest and I fished Legion from 1230 to 330 and caught 5 small largemouth and 15 or so trout-we kept 7 trout.  I don't know whey people fish Sheridan so much.  I would rather drive 30 minutes extra from RC to catch fish.  Sylvan, Stockade, Bismark, and Legion always seem better.  They are so close that of you don't like one then pack up and drive 10 minutes to the next.

I agree with you Black Hills Ice! I do not like Sheridan, the pike population is nothing like Pactola's and has been dropping for years now. If I want to hook into trout I go to Deerfield or CSP.   The perch are super finicky and I would rather not have to drill 100 holes to stay on them! Not to mention you have to deal with the other 100 people on the lake for the prime fishing spots.

I guess the only upsides of the whole lakes are the Perch don't have worms and it is close to home!

I will fish it for the tourney though! That should be a blast.
