Bussey Lake (a Mississippi backwater north of the dam at Guttenberg, Pool 10).
For Bait and info Contact:
Murray's Outdoor Store

Beth also can provide you with a map of the dredge channels so you can concentrate on productive water.

This is a link of a discussion I had with some gentlemen from Illinois last February. The title says Volga, but it ends up being about Bussey. Includes Maps and an aerial photo:

Good Luck!!! 18"Of ice when I measured two weeks ago. Many trucks on the ice. Follow the tracks from the boat ramp or the corner of the lot.

Just as you said, it's been tough everywhere. Bussey is no exception. You may have a good day only to follow up with a bad one. I have yet to be skunked, but sometimes all I can find are dinks. But it's fishing!

Alright here's the scoop guys.... I'm blaming it all on the weather  caught a 9" perch and a fat 12" crappie and had the flag on the same tip up go at least a dozen times. had the camera down and always had gills perch and crappie in the screen they'd bump baits  follow it up 2 feet and the perch would bull rush when a couple gills would be looking just to stop a few inches away.  Fished east side 6 foot was deepest we found. Talked to one other guy coming off the ice and he said It was about the same for him he did manage 3 small crappie and a couple small gills there were two trucks out one a full size and almost 2 feet of ice.  Ran through lots of jigs and nothing was improving them just a slow slow day high pressure system coming through at noon tomorrow might trigger them enough good luck guys.  Oh and talked to a deputy at Casey's this morning and he talked to a guy coming back from sny magill Tuesday and he had a limit don't know what of but fish non the less

We got on the lake yesterday am, and there were only 2 other vehicles on the ice. Wind was howling 100 mph, and we were surprised at how much snow the area had. We drove out w the truck, dang near got stuck, and decided to go back to the ramp and unload the 4 wheeler. Had no issues w it, as it rode ontop of the snow. Lots of lm bass, perch, gils, and a few crappies on the camera. I let the gf use the camera, and I ran tip ups. water clarity allowed no sharing of the camera. She could see her one line, and her other was pretty hard to see. We moved twice. Deepest water we found was 7'. Two super nice local guys showed us how to use the google earth app on my iphone, so we could see the dredges. They told us 6-7' was the deepest, and everything else is 3-4'. They were running tipups near us, but we didnt see them have any action. They left after 2-3 hrs, and all day long, there were only 3 trucks on the ice. They said they usually catch perch on their tipups, while targeting walleyes and pike. Our tipups saw no action, and we saw no walleyes or pike on the camera. Mid winter blues, or low oxygen, but the fish werent hungry. We gave them everything. Caught no perch, and only gils. She missed one perch that did take a bait in, but other then that...the perch were tight lipped. Lots of dink gils to catch, and we managed a few bigger ones. If a perch would come in, a bunch of gils would come in and spook it off.  Locals wernt fishing, which made us wonder if they too, had decided the bite wasnt worth getting blown away in, from the nasty winds. It was just too windy and bitterly cold, to do much hopping around. With the blizzard warning, and another 4" forecasted, w high winds coming in, we booked home last night. We'll be back again! Saw more fish on the camera yesterday, then all of my 7 igl trips combined!

Neither of us recalled even seeing a sign that she has bait? Wonder how many non locals cruise right by? Nice store, quite a selection of jigs and lures. Super nice lady! She gave us some pool maps too.

If you were to find me in the phone book, it's a phone number that cannot ring. DSL is all that's hooked up to it.

Glad you guys made it out.

I punched in guttenberg on nmy navionics, and they have the map of the lake w depths, which surprised me, since punching in bussey lake gave me nothing.
