I switched over to 80# flouro a few years back.
But I still switch it up to see if the larger pike are
Skiddish of the steal leader.
I caught a couple big ones last season on the steal.
Definitely get more action with the flouro.
I am going to try some braided line this year
I've heard good things about it.
You need to be patient with heavy flouro.
whats a big one??

80lb flouro. Just retied some tonight. They go through many pike before you need a new one. Some days I don't think it matters but steel kinks and I had too many nice fish go right through 60lb braid....

I was a lifelong steel guy..switched to heavy floro last year. Not super heavy duty, but strong enough for what I'm hunting.

I've tried a few different leader setups in the last 2 years.  Full disclosure - I mostly fish for lots of flags and don't go to great lengths to catch monster pike.   I have only cracked 10lbs through the ice a couple of times but I have caught tons of 4-9lb pike and I keep good mental notes on what works and what doesn't.
First was 80lb fluoro shock tippet with crimps:  Easy to set up the leaders but I had several crimps pull through until I found out that you can't just crush the crimp, you actually have to use cutters to cut grooves through the crimp.  The shock tippet tended to coil a little and was a pain to straighten out but I had increased hookups vs steel leaders and landed several pike near 10lbs and had to release 2 that wouldn't fit through a 6" hole.
Second was 30lb seagur fluoro that I tied (no crimps).  This worked well with single hooks but I had several leaders with treble hooks that got bit off.  In my experience trebles tend to hook a little deeper and therefore the leader gets more teeth.
Third was 60lb Seaguar fluoro leader with crimps:  This was easier to keep straight than the 80lb tippet and I had no problems with it.  I switched to only using 2/0 Octopus and 2/0 circle hooks and have been really pleased with hookup ratio and that almost all of the fish are hooked perfectly in the corner of the mouth.  I like the octopus better but those did deep hook 2 fish last year and none with the circle.

I just bought a package of 40lb knot2kinky knotable titanium leader so I can give that a try this year.  Good luck out there!
