Every lake is different but you can bet I will have jigging raps and pimples down most of the time. For pannies, I like a simple glow white and silver teardrop and a fiskas with a plastick.

this year on the St. Lawrence we had great success with jig fish for walleyes. I will be trying the lighter ounce size on hard water this season.

My go to  combos  set up usually start with a 1/16oz chrome spoon..favorites Kastmaster lur Jensen chrome- blue chrome ,brass gold..perch pattern too for black ice and sunny days when sun light can penetrate. If the snow is covering ice, I would use a glow pattern  same lures also like the smallest size swedish pimples they too work well. Try tandem , droploop a tear drop glow jig about a foot up and and the heavier spoon as the sounder, tip both lures with a spike and learn the wiggle jig wiggle lift drop method. ;D

yes, a minnow head especially if you pull fresh ones out of the holes on a lure ..or if fresh ones are regurgitated by the fish catch. I would cut them and use either a head or tail or filet depending on the size of the forage.  gl hope for safe ice season soon!
