Not in that range. I have the Z71, They start well and run great. I just don't like all the plastic parts on them that break all the time. Customer service is pretty easy to deal with.

I have a Jiffy, about $340.00 plus tax.  I have had very good luck with it.  For $300.00. Your best bet would be an Eskimo.  Many members on here have mos, and seem to be very happy with them.  My next auger may very well be a mo.

I'd get an Eskimo Mako 8 inch with the 43cc engine.  Glenn's has them on sale now for $269.95 to get to their website just click on the link above and go into the ice fishing section then gas augers.

I would just stick with the eskimo brand. For the price i would say they are probably the best and i have the mako and it works great.

You can pick up a jiffy sd 60I for 339 at reeds. Well worth the extra 40 bucks. They last forever.

Polar Fire (HT) has a new auger this year...two actually, a 8" 33cc and a 10" 43 cc.  They are right in your price range.

I actually have one that will be given away at the first Perch Assault tournament Dec 15th at Smith Lake.

Seems like a decent unit, comparable to the Eskimo and even the older style Jiffy...
If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

The Eskimo augers are hard to beat! And their company has great customer service. I had a small issue a couple of years ago and called the tech support number on their web page, the tech walked me through the problem and talked me through the fix. A couple days later he called me back to make sure that everything was still working well.  I used a good friends jiffy for years and it was and still is a great auger. Brands and preferences aside, the best auger is the one you are drilling holes with. Good luck...

I've had my 8" eskimo for 8 years. It purrs like a kitten and gets the drilling done every time. (with proper maintenance and care of course)  Wouldn't ever buy anything else.
