Looking for a review of p-line floroice
« on: Nov 13, 2012, 10:53 AM »
I've used regular P-Line Florocarbon and really like it wondering how the P-line floroice line is? If I do decided to buy the floroice I will be using it on jigging rods so looking for reviews about how it works for jigging.

I've been using this for 3 or 4 years and love it. No streach and durable. I like the 2lb and 4lb. I've even used it tube jigging in spring and fall on my 12' noodle rod. No complaints at all.

I tried it, didn't care for it. Switched back to my favorite...the 2Lb. CXX P-line, that stuff is soft yet strong! If you can get some -Try it! ....that I know of, only Bass Pro Shop sells it. >:(

I was told by a guy at Thorne Bros. it's the same line, just packaged for ice fishing in smaller spools.

Actually the the floroice is very different from the florocarbon. It's very close to the floroclear in regards to materials, but according to a P-line Rep I spoke to, the line comes out of the extruder in a slightly different way. Now how noticable this difference is, is debatable.

Love Floroice. I use 3# for all my pannie rods, 4# when going after the jumbo perch and 6# for walleye.

I use PLine open water and PLine FloroIce for hardwater. The stuff is incredibly strong and the knot strength is great. I use 2lb for panfish and either 4 or 6lb when walleye fishing. Get some you will not be disappointed!

All I use is P-Line. I use the 3lb Floroclear for ice fishing. Have used the Floroice too but did not notice any difference between the two. Buying the 300 yd Floroclear spool is a way better deal than the little Floroice pony spool. Fin

It is good stuff. I use it in open water. Might have to try it on an ice rod.

I just bought some P-Line 2 & 3 lb this year at the Syracuse show. Talked to a Thorne Bros person that actually lives in the area and he uses it. Says it is limper in the cold water than flouro. The lighter weight jigs "perform" better with the limper line. When the fish get finnicky the limpness help "sell" the jig. Going to be spooling up my reels with and have spare spools to boot. Went to 4# last year but wanted something in a smaller diameter. Biggest fish would be 3lbs where I fish unless a bass hits it. Just MHO...........

Ok so here is what I got back from P-Line...
"FloroIce is a copolymer blend that is mixed with Fluorocarbon. It gives you all the characteristics of Copolymer and has a lower visibility. If you compare two of our lines it is more like the Floroclear"

I replied with a question in regards to ice fishing will post back when I get an answer

modified (12:47pm EST) here is the response to the question I asked about ice fishing...

"There is not a dramatic difference between the two. I would continue to use the Floroclear."
