Looking to put a plow on my atv?
« on: Sep 17, 2012, 09:18 PM »
Hey all I'm looking to put a plow on my atv to make it a little easier to set up camp! Will a lawn tractor plow work as good as an atv plow? They look similar ? What do you think?

It's hard on the wheeler. Not sure what you mean by set up camp, but if you mean out on the ice, it's probably going to be dissapointing. I've had 2 plows on different wheelers to plow my driveway, it severely limits your mobility while it's on the wheeler and it's going to be rough plowing on the lake unless it's fresh snow.

Thanks for your input. More or less I'm looking to see what's the differance in the different plows and to see what people have to say about them all. I will also be using the plow to do all the tight places in my drive way where its hard to get my truck in too. Will also be using it on the ice to make life easier around my hard side and my pop up shanties

Eagle and moose are both nice heavy duty plows I had a moose on my last four Wheeler and now have an eagle on my ranger love them both.  I'm not sure but they are both identical the way they were built maybe the same plow with a different sticker for all I no.  In my opinion they both push snow without a problem and are quicker than my truck because there more maneuverable in small drives.  On ice now is as different story don't think you'll be happy unless like said above with some good snow for traction.  Good Luck.

I had a 48 inch plow on my 1993 Honda fourtrax, and it plowed beautifully.  I now have a 700 Yamaha Griz with a 60 inch
plow, and it plows great as well.  I use the plow every winter, as I have a 285 ft driveway.  If it is just a 6 inch snow, I will
use only the plow.  If it is a foot, I will use the blower, then use the plow for a polished cleanup.  A garden tractor will plow
but it isn't fourwheel drive like a wheeler.  If you are plowing with a wheeler, go with 48 inch up to 400cc, and 60 inch over
that.  You will be surprised how much snow they will remove.
