It was a no go at rockport. Arrived at 6am and There was still a bit of ice, but the only problem was gettin on it. From what we spot lighted aound the lake the only spot that looked like you might be able to get on was right by the dam. Soooo we said lets do the berry, only another hour drive and my 1st time on the ice there this year. We arrived at chicken creek east around 7ish. Ice was 3in hard crust/4in slush/18in ice. Had sun shine and no wind all day  @) by far one of the best days ive had this winter on the hard deck and what a way to send out the ice season  the crust layer held out good for us but we did hit a few soft spots on our way back in with the wheeler. Its only gonna take 1-2 more hot days up there and theres going to be 7-9in of nasty slush on top. Between 3 of us we managed around 40 fish. 11 for myself. Biggest fish was a 19.5in cut. I had some good photos but as i was trying to upload them to photobucket i put my phone in the cup holder on my chair while i hooked up a fish and when i was bringin the fish outta the hole i bumped the chair, knocking it over and sending my phone to the bottom of the lake  :%$#!: :%$#!: :%$#!:  thank god i got insurance on this one. First thing i lost to the lake in 3yrs knew i was bound to break that streak sooner or later just wish it woulda been a scooper or something a little more cheaper. All together was an awsome day with friends and fins on the ice. tightlines everyone and dont forget to post a comment in the R&C thread i started. Lets get this thing up and runing. Its gonna take as many replies as we can get for IS to put it up, hopefully for next season

Thanks Musky.

My Brother and I are headed up to Ice Fish the Berry tomorrow for the first time this year.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that drops things in my ice fishing hole never to see them again...

Here's the lot so far: denatured alcohol stove, ice fishing rod holder, and my ego on days when the fishing is not great....

Tight lines and Big Fish, Brothers  :)

No problem guys and good luck. Im sure theres still plenty of ice,  just stay on hard spots and keep them feet dry.  Be careful on the edges Our wheeler was breakin thru pretty good when we were comin off at the end of the day and that was a week ago. These temps this weekend should open up alot of water.  70's 70's 70's that has such a nice ring to it  @) @) @) tightlines

We killed them. Fished the whole day. My bro and I caught 20 good sized fish.  Some cutthroats in the slot that we released.  We kept 7 fish total, all good sized rainbows in the 14-16 inch range.

It was a blast.  The ice was shaky in parts but we managed to survive.  Ice fishing is over now up there. I'm headed up this afternoon to catch some of the ice off action.

Let you know how it went
