Usually buy about an inch long use the whole one on a jig for perch or crappies and cut it in half for gills. :'(

Ours don't get to an inch here. They are about 3/4 I suppose. We are considering growing our own. Brian

The early bird might get the worm but the second mouse will always get the cheese...

not too sure what they eat, but I always put mine in a container of cornmeal.  they seem to like that and I think they must eat it too.

Ours are somewhere between a 1/4" and a 1/2".  Oatmeal seems to keep them okay.

I keep waxies in fresh hardwood sawdust with some oatmeal tossed in. I've been able to purchase them an inch long and they seem to really fatten up in that mix. Don't use plywood sawdust, the glue will kill them. Pinewood sawdust does not get the results of hardwood either.

How exactly do you guys put them on the hook? I have heard to string them up the hook, to put a few lengthwise across the hook, hook them through an end and let the rest dangle.....

I have had no luck with waxies, but would like to learn from others on how they are used...

Depending on size...one or two waxies hooked right in the middle, let 'em dangle. They move a lot and the fish can just suck them in.

I have not gotten anything from these guys, but the selection seems pretty good:

I was looking for Leeches during the soft water season and someone on the MyFishFinder site sent me the info. Let me know what you think about the selection and prices.

PM me to swap information on fishing holes or to go fish'in sometime in the Syracuse Central NY area (Onondaga and Madison county water holes in particular).
