What a sloppy mess!

Went fishing at limit lake tonight and caught a few. Walkin out to the area to fish tonight you could see water gushing through small holes in the ice like a spring Glad I wore my rubber boots tonight. Funny the ice under all the slushy mess was solid! Going fishing in the am going to check another lake first and if no go then back to limit lake.

Yup...dgb ain't liyn'!!! 4" of slop on 4" of ice made a rough go of it...but we're tough. Caught my first ever warmouths. Look like a cross between a gill and a rock bass...all the same in the deep fryer  Hopin' for some of those 10" gills in the am...right cfishon?  ...more to come.

heck yeah i have been trying to get them to try them warmouths and they won't go for it but i think they are great..But hopefully that lake we go to in the morning turns into the new limit lake...

Last time I went out I tried for Least Darters but didn't get anything decent sized.

I caught 3 nice sized warmoughts today. I didn't keep them, I did bring home 13 nice gills though. I would have had 16 gills but I left my fish on the ice and moved to a new hole and had seagulls steal 3 gills.

Nope...never knew at the time they were in there. Ended up with 5 of 'em.

This winter definitely came in on the short bus. I've been ice fishing for over 40 years and don't remember one like this where ice conditions were just plain never predictable. I never set foot on ice over 7" in this part of the state this year. But I have to say when I did get out the bite was excellent every trip but one. Even now if I could get out all the lakes I normally fish are hovering around 4" of ice at best when they should be at least 10" thicker.

Havent had enuf ice to even dream about stepping out on this year... last season this time i had 12 to 14 inches of ice and im in west southwest ohio.. terrible!

buddlake im coming your way on friday. yu are only 20 miles approx south of houghton lake, which i where im gonna be based out of for a week. harrison is probably on the to -do list while im there, any lake suggestions??
