Warning for Square Pond in Acton
« on: Feb 21, 2012, 10:48 AM »
With the derby up there on Sunday I figured I would post this on here in case any one was planning on fishing it.  There's still plenty of ice (about a foot by my shack), but there are a couple pressure ridges that have formed in some unusual spots as well as some open water out in the middle of the ski course/boat launch/treasure island portion of the lake.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

There's plenty of ice (other than that open spot).  Least I heard of someone cutting on Sunday was 9.  Had 14 in one of my holes.

Yeah wasn't good at all. Ruined are day pretty quick. Scary to have him standing next to you one minute then you get a call a couple minutes later with that news.

They have kept him in a coma since it happened.  Going to keep him in it for another day or so.  Don't think they know much other than that is what it sounds like.  The skull fracture is pretty big though.

A few people saw it happen and were there right away.  Only head injuries, no other broken bones or injuries.

There's a lot of unusual pressure ridges this year. I'm assuming because of the water level fluctuating? A truck went in unity with 18 inches of ice, I'm sure y'all heard.

I think that is the picture where he tried to drive over the ridge  :cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo:
