oakley trapper creek end
« on: Feb 10, 2012, 02:25 PM »
Fished Oakley yesterday and did pretty good  ;D ice was around 7 to 8 inches thick and edges wernt to good but there was places to get out on the ice. But i would take a plank if you have one.

Went and tried Oakley today. Ice is still 6 to 8 inches, but you need a plank to get on. Fished from 2 to 5 in the afternoon and landed 9 trout averaging 16 inches long. Going to try it again tomorrow morning. White and pink seemed to be the hot colors today. Also a plain night crawler landed a couple.  ;D

We will be in the cove at trapper creek. I fished there today and had good luck. Feel free to stop and say hi unless you are going to upper goose creek.

Fished early this morning until about 2:00 and landed 9 trout. A buddy of mine landed a walleye up by the dam around noon. Not a bad day of fishing!  ;D

It was good to meet you, was really slow for us hooked 3 and none on the ice. I guess that classifies as a skunk. Only seen 4 fish landed and lots of people. Try this  link for some reason it doesnt want to post from my phone.

Yes, it was great to meet you as well. Some days that is how fishing goes. Today I fished with two other friends. We were all using pretty much the same thing and fishing right next to each other. One buddy got skunked and the other one landed 3 while I landed 9. My poles were right in the middle of theirs so the fish had to swim past their bait to get to mine. Wish I knew how to explain that. Why would a fish pass up their worm to bite mine? I have had my fair share of fishing trips where that is the reverse. My buddy catches them all and I get skunked. Either way a bad day of fishing is still 10 times better than a good day at work.  ;)

Yea sure makes a guy wonder how all of that works but i guess we just have to make due with the way it is.  glad you guys did good and was there any size to the walleye?  I sure hope the ice gets in better shape or its going to be a really short season  :'(

The walleye was about 13 inches long. Nothing amazing, but still fun when you pull them through the ice. I agree that we need some more cold weather. I'm not quite ready to hang up the ice auger yet. Although I am getting excited to try out my new spey rod my wife bought me for Christmas on some steelhead.

reeltrouble, i enjoyed the video as well.  I always wanted to get one of those helmet cams and record our new soldier training.  I also wanted to record some massive bass on walcott.
Myself and my fellow recruiting buddies are doing a team building day at Oakley res (i suggested ice fishing and they bit), so if you go up prior to Friday will you give me a good report?  This idea was also based on fooshinx and your reports.

thanks again for the videos and keep um coming.

Welcome! Where were you fishing at trapper creek? Out in the middle or near the North shore?
