fish finder

my buddy has a hummingbird rf 15 fishfinder with wireless transducer and wants to know if he can use it for ice fishing. told him i know just the guys to ask so what do you all think ya or na  thanks guys. ???

Why not give it a try? I have a Humminbird 160 and it works great in the "freezing temperatures" . In fact i like it more than my Vex!  :o at 1/3rd the cost  ;D ;D ;D

I have never heard of not being able to use a FF in freezing temps. I have a Hummingbird and an Eagle and have used them in freezing temps for years and years. I love em'
Just visited Hummingbirds website and can find nothing about not using in freezing temps.

x2 it wont hurt to give it a try maybe it will work great good luck ;D let us know how it works

This is where I read this I quess it's not a actual Humminbird web site.. http://http://onlinefishfinders.com/pro479540.html  Maybe It would work? He might have to sink the traducer down in the hole? I'm sure everyone would like to hear the results if he tests it out !!

I have a version of this and when I started ice fishing I thought why not. So I called humminbird and was told do not use it for ice fishing. As I was still using it for summer use I didnt risk it.

Just seems to me if you dropped a wireless transducer down your hole it'd just sink ...   :'(

They float. Some can be attached to your line like a float so you can cast it out and watch your bait. A buddy has one and swears by it, but I have never seen him use it.

tie it to a string so you don't lose it!  could you buy another transducer?  I know my friend has a vexilar with a floaty for ice fishing and another attached to the boat (using the same display)
