Farm Pond Ice
« on: Feb 10, 2012, 03:08 PM »
My son just called me and said he checked out one of the ponds we fish. 6-8 inches, a couple crappy ice, but the rest was good solid ice. With the lows for the next two nights, I know where I'll be at Sunday!
I'd rather be :icefish:

Good to hear! I still won't be back in IA till next weekend so this is just killing me. We're getting dumped on with snow here in MI so I might have to find somewhere to ski this weekend to take the pain away...

Make sure to share the results!

I went out this morning and checked my pond.  I was happy to find around 3 inches and it is better ice than I had with 4-5 inches.

Went out a pond near the smithland/Rodney.  The ice was 8-9 incesh (no fish though).  Then went to another pond just 5 miles away and was only 3 inches...........diffe rence was sun exposure.  The pond with 3 inches was out in the open........the other was down in a ravine surrounded by trees.

Ended up driving back to Sioux City and caught a few at Bacon Creek.........6 1/2 inches there.
