New boots
« on: Feb 09, 2013, 09:13 AM »
7 years ago i picked uo a set of boots frok walmart....yes walmart. They are 600 gram insulated camo boots. Ive used them for ice fishing, hunting, shoveling snow and everything in between. Most comfortable boots ive owned and probably the best 50 dollars ive spent on clothing. But they are now starting to come apart at the toe and im not sure if i wanna shoe goo them or get another pair of boots. Any suggestions?

They work great. Plus I seldom ever slip with them. Tons of grip. Lots of ankle support .

The mickey mouse boots definitely are not a multi purpose boot. They are at the top of the game for arctic cold. I have a pair and love them (the white ones). They are not made for walking in and are very bulky such as for tree stand hunting. That's why I seconded the Mucks, they do offer some good Multi purpose boots.

Don't get me wrong, the mickeys in their place a fantastic, and the price can't be beat.

Do you fish in a shelter or exposed? I was surprised how much I love the Kamik rubbers I bought a few years ago. Trust me, you get on slushy ice, "waterproof" leather boots will eventually fail. Rubber boots are definitely worth a look.

My hands and feet have been frost bit good before and I like my LaCrosse Ice Kings even though they're heavy.  7 years this winter and going strong.

Warm and Dry and Safe -- Cabelas TransAlaska III with ice screws installed.  No so good for hiking but I don't walk all that far.  A mile or two, one way, isn't too bad.

I just bought a pair of muck Arctic sports. Great fit and finish, very comfortable and easy to put on. The only thing I'm worried about is, they might be too warm.
Look at me I can walk on water

But don't overlook:

LL Beans Maine Pac Boots (lifetime satisfaction guarantee):

Vintage style meets cold weather comfort to create one of our warmest boots
Designed to closely replicate vintage pac boots originally used for ice fishing and late-winter hunting
Features a waterproof leather upper and rubber bottom shell to keep feet dry
Lined with waterproof mesh and foam to keep feet dry and warm
Removable felt liner
The perfect combination of vintage styling and cold weather comfort, these boots are reminiscent of classic pac boots originally used for ice fishing and late-season hunting in the wilderness of Maine.

Since these activities demand dependable warmth, we use insulation in three different ways, creating one of our warmest boots. First, the wrap-around foam lining surrounds your foot in consistent warmth. Second, these boots are fitted with a removable felt liner, which also features a removable insole for comfort. Both liners are easy to hang dry after a long day in the elements, eliminating the chance of slipping warm feet into a cold, damp boot the next day. Finally, we finished these boots with 12 mm of felt insulation between the outsole and the liner to seal out cold.

Full-grain waterproof leather upper and rubber bottom keep feet dry even in the wettest winter conditions. Heavy-duty lugged rubber outsole provides excellent traction while easily shedding snow and ice. Speed lacing system allows you to tighten laces with just one pull. Spare felt liners sold separately. 9"H. Imported. Unisex sizes.
