He wanted the best so thought I would throw it out there.  Cheaper rod that I used for several years and actually still use occasionally is the frabill panfish popper ul.   I get rid off the spring bobber and spool up some 3lb line on a Pflueger and its an awesome combo.  Not to mention darn tough with decent sensitivity.  I just wish it came with a larger diameter 5 inch handle....than it would be a real nice rod.

If you are looking for a rod with an action similar to your True Blue, the Quiverstick is not it. Look at the Jason Mitchell Meatstick, the Frabill Quicktip, or the Thorne Brothers Powernoodle. If you like the True Blue, you should be happy with any of these.

For the money I have been using the HT rods I have the Polar Lights in a Light Medium Action 36" I have caught perch to 40lb lake trout on it, really a fun rod. Also like the ice blue rods as well ib-36 that is a great noodle rod great for panfish. HT even makes a micro fly reel specifically for the Ice blue series of rods for those that our interested in trying those out. For the money they out perform much more expensive rods, I will say you need to be careful with the tips as they our ultra fine for the purpose of not having to use a wire bobber, when storing your rods make sure not to bend the tip over as that is a sure way to break it.

I'd go with a thorne bro's rod.  Do some research to see which rod will fit your needs.

No better rod - than a thorne bro rod.

Great rods..... If they have your blank material in stock. They have a major supply issue with certain blanks. I cancelled my order after 4 months.

I don't know exactly what happened to the Jason Mitchell rods... I was gonna buy one the other day and was horrified with what I saw. It was the single ugliest, most poorly constructed rod on the rack. It was sad because they were once top notch.

Go play with rods in the store! Internet recommendations are pretty pointless with something that is as dependent on feel as a rod. It's like asking someone what kind of shoes you should like.

Some of the new Frabill rods are really great. You will be impressed, it's not just cheapie jig sticks anymore. St. Croix has some really good carbon blanks at a decent price with their Premeir line too.

I would avoid TB unless you know someone who has one that you can play with, or can make a trip to their store in Blaine MN. I like some of their stuff, but some of it can be beat by way cheaper rods.

You wouldn't let someone else choose you wife, and jig rods are waaaaaayyyyy more important! ;D
