Road Trip?
« on: Jan 29, 2012, 03:35 PM »
Has anyone fished elsewhere this year or do you have a road trip planned this winter, if so where? I've been to Chautauqua once, that's my icefishing season so far. I'd love to try fishing in MN some time, might just get in the truck and drive one day! This winter sucks, I need ice.

we went to lake caddilac in mich. last weekend that is about it for us. Caught alot of small perch and one 18in pike. we were defently glad to just be on the ice. i was going to go to chautauca today but i heard they were crossing a plank to get on the ice. I myself dont care about crossing onto the ice but i have my son this weekend and didnt feel safe about crossing with a 6 year old. Do any good in new york?

Caught a bunch of bluegill and some perch off Burtis bay. All the perch were dinks and majority of gills were small. We did get on some nice keepers eventually, just took a while for us to find them. It was fun being out, that's all that really matters. I read same thing about using planks now, hopefully it'll freeze back up soon-ice was 4in and clear when we were there Thursday. I'll be spending alot of time out there I think when the entire lake becomes safe to fish. I have a brand new Eskimo gas auger I need to fire up!
