Probally not till the end of next week.  The ice that did survive did freeze up but there is a lot of snow on the lakes now.  I was just driving around and saw that some of the lakes have dark/wet spots.  Not sure if its where the snow is waiting down the ice or if its from the rain that we had early last night mixing with the snow.

  • When in doubt, exaggerate!
For those trying to go out on the ice tomorrow, post back here with your ice info. Don't need any lake names, just ice thickness, and size of lake.

I have some free time Sunday night and all day Monday (due to MLK holiday) to finally try and get out on the ice in the Jackson county area, and would love to know how the ice is progressing.

Thanks in advance.

I checked the ice on my lake in Allegan county.  It is close but not quite there.  Maybe it will be good tomorrow if it gets in the teens tonight.

  • I only fish on days that end in "Y"...
I got on a lake in the Greenville area. Had 3 inches, 2 of good ice. I must state that there was no snow on this lake, only a thin dust of snow. It was a little on the sketchy side. We prepared safety equipment in case.

Hmmm.  How much ice did you find?  There's still not enough on my lake.

Ice has been good for about a week or more.  started to opne up alittle today.  but still plenty of room to fish.  just make sure to check with spud dont asume its same because you were on it before.  This 40 degrees and sun is brutal on the new ice!

  • The secret to fishing...fish where the fish are.
Barry County in the morning...at least the cold nights have kept the warm days at bay for the most part. Not losing ice but not making much either  :-\
