Mr heater mh15t
« on: Feb 07, 2012, 09:05 AM »
Just got one of these from the ole lday n I dont know much about it except that Mr heater is a good brand. Anyone got any info on this product? Does it compare to the buddy heaters everyone seems to like? Flaws? Tricks? It seems to be sturdy enough? I'm also not looking forward from getting away from my beloved 1pound bottles.
Y'all catchin?

I think that's the one I have.  I like it a lot.  I only fill the tank half way when I fill it though to cut down on some of the weight.  It still lasts a really long time.  Also I would watch the copper tube that goes up the side.  (the thermocoupler?) It bends easily and mine just broke off.  I was able to get a replacement at the Cenex in Belgrade and it works fine now.
Someone on here was talking about five pound tanks you can get for them and I think that would be the trick to make it lighter overall.  Don't let it get to close to the fabric on your shanty either!  My dogs love it and sit almost right on top of it when they get cold.
I like it when fly fishing too.  Throw it in the boat and put it on your back when your bumping from hole to hole or use it just to warm up your hands after getting slimed by fish.

I grew up with this heater. It's all business. None of the plastic fluff the buddy's have. Does take up a little more space and will melt a hole in your house. Do they make them now so the elemnt pivots horizontally for cooking? Great heater!

Also, I have the 5lb bottles. However it has a "quick release" coupler. If you could replace that with threaded type it would bve perfect. They are old tanks and I'm not sure if this is the only way to get them.
