Rather than purchasing one you cad build your own.  get a 4 foot steel or iron bar and have a chisel tip welded on.  If you don't have access to a welder, you can grind the tip to make it like a chisel.  Just make sure you attach a rope to it or you will loose it.

Got my Jiffy Mill Lacs Ice Chisel from CTO a few years ago and it is hands down the most invaluable piece of ice gear I own.  Wouldn't step on early or late ice without it...  Worth the $$.
