Some of my buds were up there 2 1\2 weeks ago and like sledmanwinder said it was 7-8in then so I'm sure its well over 10 by now. My mom lives in lava and its been pretty cold up until the last couple days. Just don't expect much snow on the ice it may be pretty slick. Grab the boot chains. My buds caught over 30 fish between 3 of them. Fish shallow in the morn 10ft and move out later in the day if it slows down

Went and fished Thursday and all day Friday.  Came home Today (Saturday).  Had a terrible night with the wind.  It rained all night Thursday night.  14 inches of clear ice.  the fish bit lightly.  We still caught some nice fish, will update with pics when I get them from the other guys.  Took a group of kids 14-17 years old.  They had a blast.  most of them and some of the adults had never been ice fishing.  It was a successful trip. Caught one almost 6 lbs.  Had several over 4 and 5 lbs.  and of caorse lots of small ones.

Sounds like good times. How long was the 6lb'er? I think that place with cabins is a working dude ranch so you might be able to google that. Can't be that many in chesterfield. I had some buddies there also on Friday and Saturday. Only got a report from Friday but they didn't do to bad I think atleast everyone caught 1-2 fish. No hogs though

The ice was around  18 inches.  We caught several, but not like 2 weeks ago.  Most of the fish were between 4 -5 pounds.  It was a nice day out Saturday, not as many people as I thought would be there. Here is one that is average of what we were catching

and this was our setup if you were out there

I went up this morning. I didn't get to fish much more than an hour and a half. I took my kid and another 4 year old. Within a half of an hour they had both managed to fall into the same hole. They stayed in the truck and warmed up while I picked up and fished for about an hour. In that time I caught 8 small trout between 12 and 16 inches. They were loving the power bait. Too bad the wind was so bad and the kids were wet, had to cut the day short.

LOL. I've been thinking about taking my 4 year old out.  Thanks for reaffirming my decision NOT too!  Next year I'll have him out there though.

I have taken my little girl that just turned four out for 2 years. It is the first time that she has found a hole and got that wet. The  cold wind didn't help the situation. Oh well there are good days and bad days. As long as you take them out on a calm day they do pretty well until they get bored. Make sure if you do take them you don't plan on spending all day out there even if there is a lot of action they will want to go home early. Just get them out on a good day and you will both enjoy it.
