Will there be decent ice this winter?

I heard on the radio this morning on the fishing report out of Duluth MN. that with the much colder temps we have been having and with the predictions for the future forecast, we should have fishable ice by Thankgiving. There are small corner bays on some lakes that are iced over right now. (I have seen a few myself)  We have had snow on the ground for 7 straight days now. Starting this Sunday night lows will be in the mid teens. Sounds promising, after average high tomorrow, rest of 10 day outlook looks below average temps for SW  MN

Starting this Sunday night lows will be in the mid teens.

Believe it or not, several small ponds and such have been completely covered by skim ice every morning for about a week now in the Twin Cities!  Once we have some days with highs below freezing or truly cold nights, it's all going to happen very quickly.

Heck, I had 58 degree water last time I had my boat out about 2.5 weeks ago.  Lakes were just turning.  It happened very quickly!

Yea all the small ponds are iced over. We have had quite a few days recently that have not gotten above freezing. Maybe a good old fashioned winter coming.

I just seen a sign from the heavens. Today it's in the 40's and RUNNINGS is just starting to set up all the ice fishing merchandise. Therefore I predict an early an long lasting ice fishing season, have to stay optimistic. BRING ON THE ICE!!

Lows for some parts of Wyoming on Monday and Tuesday will be in the single digits with many places in the teens!
