Does any one know where to catch any Kokanee in the south eastern part of the state?

You'll have a real tough time targeting kokanee through the ice. People luck into them every once in a great while in the gorge but no one I know catches them consistently. I've caught two through the ice (same day) and my dad has never caught one in all his years of ice fishing.

Hattie has some, not worth targeting though.

There are Kokanee in High Savory Reservoir south of Rawlins, but you will probably need a sled or a wheeler with tracks to get there now.

Grand Lake in Colorado was pretty loaded with Kokanee the last time I fished there several years ago. They are easy to catch through the ice, not particularly good to eat though...

Funny how a species of fish can differ from lake to lake, or region to region, but I have caught lots of Kokes through the ice in places other than the Gorge.

used to catch lots out of hattie. heard there are some in granite or at least there used to be. been told to fish really shallow or really deep, i know that seems silly but thats what i was told by someone i trust when it comes to hattie.

There used to be quite a few Kok's at Hattie, but every year they get less and less. There is still some in there but have fun trying to catch them. Hattie is a hard place to ice fish anyways. Most that I have seen taken on the ice up there was in 2 to3 feet of water..... I have been fishing in 10 to 15 ft of water and seen schools but no luck they just look and turn away..... Good Luck Benwyo..

A couple of years ago when I was in school we would fish the deep end of hattie and pick up one or two.  We just got to the point of luck but had better chance in the deep hole at hattie.  Hint for hattie use a camera look for fish if you don't see any move.

No more kok in Granite; stocking stopped a few years ago.
Hattie still has good numbers and stocking continues.  Two types are caught through the ice at times.  The spawners are very shallow and heavily deteriorated this time of year if they are not finished by now and died.  The immature tend to school in open water and are generally small and very selective in their bite.  They are plankton filter feeders and only hit very small lures and flies.  If you can find a school and have what they want they often will bite non-stop just below the ice, but may only be 8" long.  They need another year or two to put on the pounds.
There are also kok in the lake west of Saratoga on Savery Creek (High Savery), but access may be tough right now.
