I put all my traps in a 5 gal bucket, then cover them with a trash bag to keep out the dust !  As for my auger, spray blades with WD-40, it's a hand auger !

I run marine stabilizer at the "storage" dose the entire winter.  Before I put it away, I fill the tank. AS for my traps, I store them lying down.  I've found over time (10-15 years +) that the grease in the trip mechanisms will "leak" out if stored vertically and will freeze. Once the grease is gone, you'll get frozen trip mechanisms.

run outboard fogging oil through auger as well as stabil, till engine is smoking heavily, then drain all gas, as for traps and gear store in ice shack with moth balls.

I do the same thing, except until there is no gas in the tank. That way there is nothing to gum up. I also use stabil in my gas as well, when Im running it out, that way if there is anything left behind, atleast it is stabilized.

I built a couple of wooden brackets and attached them to the floor studs in my basement 'ceiling'.   Those brackets hold my jet sled, and my jet sled holds all of my ice fishing gear (including my auger, though it's a hand auger).

I grab my pack basket fully loaded and liner snitched tight   in one hand and  auger in the other ( auger has been run out of gas)  and i walk them to the basement. where they rest as is for the summer. that's it  ;)

i never have issues  it might be  the jack trap jiffy combo action  working in my favor ??

My shanty (shappell 200)and smitty sled are stood against the wall of my shop and secured with a bungie, just above them I have brackets that my ice gear box sits on. All of my gear fits in the box, and I lay a tarp over the top to keep out dust. Always close at hand, and ready to go, ya know just incase we get a mid july freezing spell  ;D

I drain all the gas out and then run the engine until it stops. I oil the blades and the bolt that holds it together and put it back in the box it came in. I also clean it up on the outside.

I run stabilized gas thru my auger until its run dry, wash the outsides off with clean fresh water, do any maintenance needed for next year, pull the plug and squirt some oil in the engine to lube the valves, replace old plug and have a new plug for next year in my cabinet, and lastly coat the dry blades of ALL my augers with Vaseline to prevent rust.

Tip ups just get put away after any repairs/maintenance are made.  New hooks and leaders are put on in the beginning of the season.

I know its late but remember to lay your beaver dams flat. So that the lube does not get a chance o run out.
