Thompson lake
« on: Dec 16, 2011, 07:40 PM »
Hey I know Thompson lake is not a large fishing lake but any one from the Gravelbourg area know if the ice is safe or if there is ice on there?  I had a fun time fishing the lake this summer and would like to go back to where i know i can find some fish.  Any info would be great.

A guy from work said there has been foot traffic but I don't have an ice thickness. Sounds like they are going to flow lots of water this year. So the ice could be acetchy

Went to Thompson Lake today landed 4 pike and lost 6 due to being to slow.  The ice was 12 to 14 inches that the north end of the lake.  Here are a couple of pics.  A good way to spend a morning.

I was fishing right by the dam (not the part where they let the water through) on the north end.  I saw some huts further south by the islands and i will probably cross-coruntiy ski out there the next time I go out.  I just walked out because I am to much of a chicken to drive out, even though there were other people out there with trucks.  The ice is just to close to barely thick enough for a truck in my thoughts and  I don't think SGI would cover going through the ice so i would rather stay dry and have my truck.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't drive on the ice yet. I spent about a half hour in the insurance broker while she was on the phone with sgi cause I wanted to know if when my truck is on the ice and if it fell threw would it be covered just under plate insurance, and it is. She said as long as I don't drive on knowing it's not safe it's covered.

I went to Thompson lake on Saturday and had a blast. Meet two wonderful people who are doing a good job making believe that there are still friendly people left in SK.  Anyhow caught a eye and a ton of pike.

It was about 18 inches and some people were out driving as well.  With this cold snap i might consider driving on it as well.
