Let's talk softwater...
« on: Jan 05, 2012, 03:38 PM »
Since we have no hardwater, lets talk softwater....  Im about two weeks away from giving up all hope on ice fishing, so Im thinking about stringing up the baitcaster and tossing some jigs in deep water.  What's your favorite species to look for in the spring/summer/fall months, and what patterns do you use to catch them?

Mine is mainly bass, and I love pitchin jigs for em.

Bass and I love to catch'em on a top water frog. Nothing is better than seeing a big hog nail your lure. But I have to say the way the walleye have been biteing the last few days I am quickly becoming a fan of them too.

The last 3 days at ft Randall damn has been hard to beat    Probably caught close to 100 walleye.   Biggest was 6 lbs.    Got there today and had a limit in an hour.   Makes ya kinda forget about ice fishing.   Close to 100 boats below the dam today.    It was crazy.

Yea I agree with Hank! May I reccomend NEFGA.org, we should reserve ice shanty for ice fishing and "lack of ice support groups!" ;D

Since i am going though ice fishing withdrawls lately, took the boat out today, dropped the flasher over the side and jigged with the ice rod. Not the same as ice fishing, but there was ice on part of the lake. Had a great time, and whacked the crappie pretty good. By the way, im new to the forum and am addicted already. Woody
