I have plenty of perch in the lakes that I fish but have no idea what depth or structure to fish. Any suggestions? I usually sight fish for sunfish but I am buying a flasher and want to catch some good tasting perch

Look for clear water over a soft bottom. Use a buckshot and pound off bottom to stir up the muck. Have a jig ready to send down if they come to the spoon, but won't hit it. Shallow weeds are a great spot to hit also. Good luck-Pig

I usually stay within 3 feet from the bottom. There is a reason why they are called perch, as they always seem to be "perched" on rocks, logs, and sand.

Here is my $.02, put a hook at the bottom in their face and tada! Perch are like northern pike they will eat almost anything you hit them with. All joking aside I use a small sweedish pimple or small buckshot tipped with 3 spikes or mousies fished about a 6" to 12" off of the bottom. Usually I fish for walleye but all I usually catch is perch the like Rosie Reds a lot. When in doubt break out the live bait.

On tip ups small minnows (Rosie reds) usually work best, but last year I caught a football perch on a large minnow I had set up for pickerel.
For jigging Halis (Or Shucks or Kodiak perpetual motion if you want to save $) with a waxie - or put a hali chain on a pimple.

If I am bottom fishing for perch, I have found that sand is the best structure.

Most of the time, I fishing for perch on a mud flat but once in a while I will try to fish a saddle structure and try to catch open water perch. These are fewer but generally bigger perch that are willing to move from one hump to another or are merely using the saddle structure as a travel route. They will be suspending in midwater column, generally halfway or higher.

Hard to beat a swedish pimple with a minnow head...or a plain ol hook with a live minnow a foot off the bottom...jig and wax worm is a fun way to get em...won't even get into what jig works best lol...but many will work great the fun is finding what works best for you...enjoy

Usually fish very close to the bottom maybe a foot off the bottom, right on the edge of weed beds works best. Usually 10 feet depth seems to work. Minnow on a tip up and glow jig tipped with spike on the jigging rod. It may take a lot of drilling to find school. If the action dies down keep on drilling and moving for best results.
